After the deluge, the winter sun rose this morning over a changed landscape of oxbow lakes. Two swans winged their way upstream, and a flock of geese called from the newly moved riverbanks. The world did not end, but this year is almost done. It is the shortest day and spring is rehearsing in the wings.
