“For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne’s day
When every
foul cometh ther to choose his mate.”
–Geoffrey Chaucer–(1340/45-1400)
Happy February 14th! The sun shone; the bluetits visited the nestbox-it is traditionally the birds wedding day, after all; temperatures reached 9 degrees C, or 50 degrees if you think in Fahrenheit and the first blue iris opened in the garden. I noticed it after I had spent a couple of hours preparing the garden salad bed for the new season. What a difference two days makes!
